From trying to recruit new investors, to attempting to sell a lifetime computer service system as well as sell a pre-paid five year service and support option. None of these plans have taken off...

But I've continued to strive to find that "killer app" that will generate the capital we need to grow and expand.

We have a good little business in Williamsburg and Belle Plaine. But that is the problem; its a little business.
Both Williamsburg and Belle Plaine are small towns with around 2,500 or so in population. The way I see it is this, if we can consistently find enough business in small markets like these, how many more similar and larger markets are there out there waiting for us and our services?

A few weeks ago I heard a news program about health care, they said there are 3,500 hospitals in the US. Hospitals, not clinics or doctors' offices, but hospitals. Now, think about how often a family needs to go to the hospital as compared to how often they need computer help. If the country can support 3,500 hospitals, I can't imagine why at least that many HomeRun Computer Stores wouldn't be a possibility!

But given the resources we have (don't have), it would take years of saving to be able to afford expanding into those other markets. Or perhaps a venture capitalist's cash infusion, which by definition would also cost a huge amount of our future profits.

Just recently I came up with a new idea, product/service called the Lifetime Computer Equipment and Service Contract.

Attached is a document that spells out the plan in detail, but in a nutshell it is as follows.

1. a limited number of contracts will be sold, twelve for each location Wmsburg, Belle Plaine and Tama/Toledo.
2. the buyer will receive a new top of the line GrandSlam computer as well as service and support.
3. in three years we will take in the original GrandSlam for refurbishment and resale and supply them with a new GrandSlam system.
4. every three years for the rest of the buyers' life they will receive a new computer
5. service and support as outlined in the agreement will be included, again for life, and at no additional charge.

This will be one of the most expensive computers on the market. But given the fact that it is an on-going lifetime deal, one of the best values you can find as well. And I've discovered in the last few years there are many who are willing to buy and pay for the Best, rather than simply the Cheapest. And in a lifetime, even if we were to fail in five years, they'd still receive at least two top of the line computers before it ended and they (the consumer) would be way ahead of the game, but assuming we thrive and grow, over the next ten or twenty years each buyer would receive three, four, five or six new computers, one every three years... How much would that be worth? A whole lot more than the initial cost certainly.

This will be a tremendous deal for the buyers and will give us the capital needed to expand and grow.
It will cost us approximately $2,880 per year per store to maintain and supply the equipment for this program. That is less than 10% of the revenue generated by this offering. And a fixed obligation, not a percentage of profits as would be the case if we generated the income from share sales.

Although at first glance, since this is a "lifetime" obligation on our part, it may seem like we're going to be giving away the store, compare it to the selling and dilution of shares in the business. Many if not most companies generate capital for growth by selling a portion of the ownership to investors and in so doing give up a slice of future profits, forever...

This plan is limited to only twelve contracts per location for several reasons. First, that will give us $30,000 to finance a new store opening (three times the cost of opening the Belle Plaine store).

The store will take on the obligation of paying for those twelve computer systems every three years, but more importantly be open and operating and selling products and services to many more customers.

Also, it is limited because this is a tool for growth not something we want to sell to everyone since eventually we might end up with no new business, just the obligation of paying for replacement computers.

This plan offers the potential of allowing us to be able to afford to grow as quickly as we are able to hire, train and staff the new locations. We could possibly really grow as I've always dreamed. A thousand stores in five years has always been my mantra (half jokingly), but it may indeed be possible. The market and need is there, the competition is not, someone will do it, why not HomeRun?

I sent out a few emails detailing the offer at the end of last week. Been on pins and needles waiting to see how it is received... Monday I got commitments for five contracts! Right On! Looks like it looks good to others as well as me.

Dr.John pluggin' away.
